What is a Razai? A featherlight handcrafted quilt. Hand block printed, hand quilted, and filled with pure cotton. Think of it as an heirloom in the making.

Noor means light, soft, floral, open. Baagh florals bloom across the front; single geometric bootA on back keeps the design clean and structured. Each piece is hand-carved onto teak wood blocks, then block printed onto 100% mul mul cotton by artisans in Jaipur. The layers are hand-stitched with hand-carded desi rui (pure cotton fill) using time-honored techniques.

Designed for layering, year-round comfort, and rooms that celebrate soft florals and clean geometry.

Care Instructions

WASHING

Hand Wash (Recommended for longevity):

- Use cool or lukewarm water (below 30°C / 86°F)
- Gentle detergent or mild soap specifically for delicates
- Submerge and gently agitate for 5-10 minutes
- Rinse thoroughly in cool water until soap is completely gone
- Do not wring or twist — gently squeeze out excess water

Machine Wash (Delicate Cycle):

- Cold water, delicate cycle
- Mild liquid detergent only
- Wash separately or with similar colors
- Do not overload the machine

What to Avoid:

- Hot water (causes fading and damage to fibers)
- Bleach or whitening agents
- Fabric softeners or conditioners
- Soaking for extended periods
- Tumble drying or high-heat drying

DRYING

Air Dry (Preferred):

- Lay flat on a clean surface or hang on a clothesline in shade
- Never dry in direct sunlight (causes fading)
- Allow to air dry completely before storing
- Do not wring or squeeze during drying

Ironing:

- Use warm iron on both sides to remove wrinkles
- Light steam may be used
- Test on a hidden corner first
- Iron on low to medium heat

STORAGE

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Fold or roll loosely to prevent permanent creases
- Avoid plastic storage bags — use cotton muslin or breathable cloth
- Keep away from moisture, damp areas, and pests
- Do not store with mothballs or harsh chemicals

COLOR & PATTERN CARE

- Hand block printed colors may have slight variations in intensity
- Colors may mellow or deepen slightly with time and washing — this is natural and adds to the character
- To preserve vibrancy, minimize sun exposure and wash gently
- Always separate light and dark colors when washing

FABRIC NOTES

- 100% mul mul cotton and 100% linen are natural fibers that may shrink slightly (typically 3-5%) after first wash
- This is normal and does not indicate a defect
- Slight color and pattern variations in each piece are a natural part of hand block printing and add to its uniqueness
- These quilts improve with age and use, developing a beautiful patina over time

LIFESPAN

With proper care, your KUHU quilt will last for decades. Many customers treat these as heirlooms to pass down through generations.

The Inspiration

Echoes of the Courtyard is inspired by the carved stonework of monuments I grew up around in Delhi — the geometry of jaal screens, the florals etched into centuries-old walls. Working with artisans in Jaipur, we translated these architectural details into hand-carved wood blocks and printed them onto fabric. Every motif in this collection has a history.

The Artisan Process

Our quilts are made the way they've been made for centuries in Jaipur. Teak wood blocks are hand-carved, designs are hand-printed, and each layer is carefully stitched by skilled hands. This is not mass production. This is craft.

Why It Matters

Fast fashion quilts fall apart. KUHU quilts age beautifully. The more you use them, the softer they become. The colors deepen. The fabrics relax. They become heirlooms.

We believe in slow, intentional making. We believe natural fibers are worth the investment. We believe you deserve textiles that tell a story.
